Patient Education

The New Mexico Department of Health / Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DOH / DPCP), in cooperation with Sue Perry, Ph.D. CDE, developed the bilingual Diabetes Corner Gazette as a teaching tool for Community Health workers (CHW) and an educational tool for patients.

Each issue is published in 3 parts: patient in English, patient in Spanish and CHW. The issues are black and white and can be copied by providers to be distributed to patients, and can be kept in a binder for later use.

Over the years, the Gazettes have evolved. The Gazettes now contain timely and less repetitive content. This content also supports topics published by New Mexico Health Care Takes On Diabetes (NMHCTOD) in diabetes Resources: Practical Information for New Mexico Health Care Professionals
