Healthy Workforce Initiatives at Sandia National Laboratories
Before I start, I would like to engage the group by asking a few questions related to health care…
What country has the youngest average age in the world?  The USA
What country spends the most on health care?  The USA

In an article written in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2004, I saw a graph that listed different countries around the world and the average health care cost per individual was between 3-5,000 in the US and 500 in Greece…

Our programs are funded through indirect dollars and operate under the integrated enabling system work package.  We have had tremendous amount of support from our medical director who is unique in that he is also the director for our benefits dept.  He looks at health Care Costs in the aggregate- Not only from a clinical/occ med cost standpoint but benefits as well.  Our unique organization structure allows us the put integrate and try to get the most value out of the Sandia Health Care Dollar.
